If you shop on our Etsy you might have noticed that the site got a makeover. It seems they are expanding and changing! I am still getting used to the new layout, but it does look nice. Since the site is revamping, we decided to give our store a little pick me up as well. We have added a lot to our About page, which you can see here! Now you can meet each and every employee that works at Michal Golan Studios, and learn a little about the office atmosphere and how we do business. If you are not one to go on Etsy, than just read on below to meet the people behind the jewelry.
Michal Golan studios is cozy but spacious. A one floor office tucked away in Hell’s Kitchen NYC. In the front of the office Michael runs the business. He coordinates Nikki, Kathy, and Rafael. Nikki handles customer service. She answers phones, takes orders, ships pieces, and makes sure everything is going smoothly. Nikki knows where every piece of jewelry is and she can tell you about any of our many wholesale customers. Kathy also deals with customer service, and everything else that must be done. She is the office assistant. She is organized and keeps everyone else organized as well. Rafael is our graphic designer. He helped design our website, he photographs jewelry, and creates images for us to use in social media. He is also a fashion lover and very creative, and is always coming up with ideas to promote our jewelery- be it DIY videos, photo shoots, or Facebook posts.
If you walk a little further into the studio you come into a big open room. Spilling over with jewels, chains, pendants, enamels and paint. Michal sits in the very back. Playing with different gem combinations and sketching new jewelry silhouettes. Once she has created a new line, and it’s been approved by Nikki and Michael, our artisans get to work reproducing the piece exactly by hand. Margarita is the production manager and has been working with Michal for over 20 years. She makes sure every artisan has the materials they need, and each piece is up to quality. They are so experienced that they can be making jewelry, chatting and listening to music all at once. The office is a fun a lively place. There is Delia, who has been working with Michal for 20 years, Teresa, 15 years, Lordes, 15 years, Maria, 12 years, and Felipa, 5 years. They have all become like family. There is also Cesar, who has only been working here 5 years, but we can’t imagine the office without him. Cesar does everything! He keeps the office clean, fixes any thing that is broken, makes sure Laila gets her lunch if Michal is out, makes jewelry, and always has a smile on his face.
Lastly, we can’t forget Laila, the loyal office dog. Laila is diligent and always alert, protecting all the employees from the dangers of the postman or an unfamiliar intern.
